Kwara Tops Northern Nigeria in Teachers’ Professional Exam With 93.8% Pass Rate

Kwara State has emerged as the best-performing state in Northern Nigeria in the recently concluded Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) conducted by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). ‎ ‎

The state recorded a 93.8 per cent pass rate, with the council commending the quality of teachers being produced under the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. ‎ ‎

The recognition was contained in a congratulatory letter to Governor AbdulRazaq, signed by the Registrar and Chief Executive of TRCN, Dr Ronke Soyombo and available to newsmen by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development. Peter Amogbonjaye.

‎ ‎According to the council, 678 candidates registered for the examination, while 616 sat for it and 578 passed, representing a 93.8 per cent success rate. ‎ ‎

TRCN said the performance reflected the high calibre of educators being nurtured through the state government's investment in education and teacher development. ‎ ‎

Reacting to the recognition, Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, described the result as an independent validation of the administration's investment in education and teacher quality. ‎ ‎

Olohungbebe attributed the achievement to the government's standardised and merit-based teacher recruitment process, which he said ensures that only qualified and competent professionals are engaged in public schools. ‎

‎He congratulated the successful teachers and commended their commitment to improving teaching and learning across the state. ‎

‎The commissioner also said continued investment in teacher development and education reforms had strengthened classroom instruction and contributed to improved learning outcomes. ‎ ‎

He welcomed TRCN's readiness to collaborate with the state on addressing identified gaps in mathematics through targeted professional development programmes for teachers. ‎ ‎

Olohungbebe reaffirmed the AbdulRazaq administration's commitment to policies that promote professionalism, excellence and global best practices in the education sector. ‎
