Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with P & A Contract Limited for the construction of a modern motor park in Amoyo. ‎ ‎

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Abdulquadri Jimba, the project is part of efforts to revive the Ifelodun Travelers transport identity and improve transportation and economic activities across the local government. ‎ ‎

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony held on Monday at the Council Contact Office, the Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, said the initiative was driven by the need to establish a dedicated transport hub for residents. ‎ ‎

He noted that residents of Ifelodun had for years depended on transport facilities at Offa Garage and Maraba in Ilorin, stressing that the proposed motor park would give the local government its own transport identity. ‎ ‎

Yusuf also disclosed that the Council was working with relevant stakeholders to introduce ten mini buses, which would begin operations soon. ‎ ‎

He added that the Council was collaborating with the NURTW, Kwara State Chapter, to ensure smooth operation of the transport system. ‎ ‎

The Supervisory Councillor for Works and Infrastructure Development, Mrs. Kolo Rebecca, said the proposed motor park would include a garage, warehouse, 100-unit shopping complex, parking spaces and public toilets. ‎ ‎

According to her, the facilities would enhance transportation, create economic opportunities and improve the overall outlook of the local government. ‎ ‎

The contractor, Mallam Jimoh Toheeb Abolore, assured the Council that the project would be executed promptly and in line with the required standards. ‎
