NewsmongerGospel singer ToluwaniSings following reports from his aide regarding attempts to get him medical care prior to his death. The personal assistant to late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as ToluwaniSings, has recounted how efforts to save the musician’s life took them to between seven and eight hospitals in Ibadan, Oyo State, before his death.
The aide, Babadunni Gbolabo, said the singer suddenly collapsed on Wednesday morning, October 14, despite reportedly appearing to be in good health before the incident.
According to him, people around the singer made desperate efforts to revive him before rushing him to different hospitals in search of emergency medical attention.
However, he explained that the attempts were unsuccessful, as some hospitals reportedly cited a doctors’ strike or the absence of medical personnel, while others did not admit the singer.
Gbolabo, who said he was not present when the incident occurred, explained that he rushed to the scene after receiving a phone call and joined others in the efforts to save the singer.
He added that prayers were also offered as the search for medical assistance continued, but the gospel minister eventually died.
The singer’s body has since been deposited at a mortuary, while members of his family are expected to decide on the next steps, including funeral arrangements.
ToluwaniSings’ death was confirmed by his family in a statement issued on Wednesday. The family described him as a beloved husband, family member and gospel minister but did not disclose the cause of his death.
The late singer was known for his gospel songs, including A Very Big God and Onibuore, which earned him recognition among gospel music lovers.
His death has left fans and colleagues mourning the loss of a singer whose music touched many lives.
