Family members of late veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Adeshina, popularly known as Elegbeje Ado, have announced plans for his final burial, weeks after his death. ‎ ‎

According to details released by the family, a wake is scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2026, as part of activities to honour the late actor and celebrate his contribution to Yoruba cinema. ‎ ‎

An Artists’ Night will also be held to bring together colleagues, friends and admirers of the deceased in remembrance of his life and career. ‎ ‎

The late actor is expected to be laid to rest on Friday morning, August 21, 2026. ‎ ‎

His daughter, Oyinkansola Adesina, appealed to colleagues, friends and well-wishers to support the family and attend the funeral ceremonies.

She explained that the burial arrangements had faced delays, partly because of financial difficulties. ‎ ‎

Yoruba actor Kunle Afod also urged members of the movie industry to turn out for the burial, describing it as an important final gesture to one of the industry's respected veterans.

Afod disclosed that a clergyman had donated ₦200,000 towards the burial arrangements. ‎ ‎

Adeshina, whose death was announced on June 30, 2026, became widely known by the stage name Elegbeje Ado after building a career around memorable roles, including herbalists and traditional priests.

His career in Yoruba cinema spanned more than two decades.
