Popular Isin APC Member, Adewara Oluwasegun, Dumps APC for PDP, Declares Support for Tinubu’s Re-Election
Ogbeni Adewara Oluwasegun Tunde of Isin LGA, Kwara State, has announced his defection from the APC to the PDP, citing the need to promote fairness, internal democracy and good governance, while declaring continued support for President Bola Tinubu.

NewsmongerOgbeni Adewara OluwasegunA grassroot politician from Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, Ogbeni Adewara Oluwasegun, has announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Adewara, who hails from Owu Isin under Owu Ward, made his decision public in an open letter dated Tuesday, August 18, 2026, addressed to his family, friends, political associates, team members, supporters and the people of Isin LGA and Kwara State.
He said the decision followed wide consultations, prayers and careful reflection on the political future of Isin Local Government and Kwara State.
According to him, his movement to the PDP was driven by his desire to promote freedom, fairness, justice, internal democracy and good governance, rather than political instability or personal interest.
Adewara said he decided to leave the APC because of what he described as imposition, injustice and poor leadership, which he claimed had affected internal democracy and the ability of party members to freely express their choices.
He stressed that politics should be centred on service to the people, arguing that development should not be controlled by a few individuals.
“This decision is not out of political instability. Rather, it is an act of conviction, courage, and the search for freedom, fairness, and true progress for our dear state and LGA,” Adewara stated. He also appealed to his supporters, friends, political associates and family members to join him in the PDP, saying their collective strength would help advance development and good governance in their communities.
Adewara, however, described his defection as a peaceful political decision, stressing that it should not be interpreted as a declaration of war against anyone.
He said the move represented a declaration of hope, new possibilities and commitment to serve people better.
Before his defection, he was an ardent lover of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who used to giving hope to Kwarans that government of the day would do well for the people of the state.
Despite his decision to leave the APC for the PDP, Adewara declared continued loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, saying he remained committed to the President's administration and its Renewed Hope agenda.
He also announced his support, alongside his team and followers, for President Tinubu to seek re-election for a second term.
Adewara said his movement to the PDP should therefore not be seen as opposition to President Tinubu, but as a political decision based on his convictions about the affairs of his local government and state.
He reaffirmed his commitment to democracy, justice, equity and the development of Kwara State, expressing hope that his new political chapter would create greater opportunities for the people to contribute to the development of their communities.
