Seun Ogunniyi Adato Emerges Kwara APC Deputy Governorship Candidate

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has reportedly settled for Seun Ogunniyi Adato as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

Adato, a serving member of the Kwara State House of Assembly representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency in Offa Local Government Area, is expected to join the APC governorship ticket as the running mate to the party’s governorship candidate.

His emergence comes amid days of speculation on social media over who would be selected for the position.

Before the reported emergence of Adato, social media reports had suggested that Chief Mrs Shade Omoniyi, Chairman of the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS), and Prince Sunday Fagbemi, Chairman of the Kwara State APC, were among those being considered for the deputy governorship slot.

However, the latest reports indicate that the party has opted for Adato, an Offa-born politician who currently represents Ojomu/Balogun Constituency in the State House of Assembly.

The development is also expected to trigger an adjustment in the APC's House of Assembly ticket for Ojomu/Balogun, with reports indicating that Hon. Giwa Muzemil Kehinde (GMK) may take over the party's Assembly ticket previously held by Adato.

Adato's reported selection comes as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections and continues to position its ticket across the three senatorial districts of the state.

As of the latest reports, however, the Kwara APC had not issued a formal public statement confirming the change. State APC Chairman Prince Sunday Fagbemi was reported to have said that a statement would be issued on the matter.
