Kwara Firefighters Contain Residential Fire in Ilorin, Prevent Major Damage
The Kwara State Fire Service has contained a residential fire at Elemosho Villa in Ilorin, preventing the blaze from spreading to other apartments. Preliminary investigations identified a power surge as the cause of the incident, with residents urged to adopt proper electrical safety measures.

NewsmongerFlames and smoke engulf a residential building during a fire outbreak in Ilorin, Kwara State. The Kwara State Fire Service has successfully contained a fire outbreak at a residential building in Ilorin, preventing the incident from spreading to nearby apartments and properties.
Newsmonger gathered that the fire occurred at about 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Elemosho Villa, opposite Super Moon Filling Station in the Olunlade area of Ilorin.
The affected building is a block of four room-and-parlour self-contained apartments.
However, only one apartment was damaged in the incident, while firefighters swiftly brought the blaze under control by about 11 a.m., saving the remaining three apartments from destruction.
According to preliminary findings, the fire was triggered by a power surge, which ignited combustible materials inside the affected apartment.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Chief Fire Superintendent (CFS) Alabi Muhammed, urged residents to take preventive measures by installing surge protection devices and using standard electrical wiring and fittings in their homes.
He also advised members of the public to avoid overloading electrical circuits, carry out regular maintenance of electrical installations, and promptly alert the Fire Service whenever a fire outbreak occurs, noting that early emergency response significantly reduces damage.
The Kwara State Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property through prompt emergency response and sustained public awareness on fire safety across the state.
