Trump Suspends Planned Iran Strikes, Signals Hope for Diplomatic Deal

United States President Donald Trump has announced that he is putting on hold a planned new round of military strikes against Iran, saying the framework for a possible agreement has been reached with Tehran and America's Middle East allies.

Trump said the planned attacks had been cancelled for now, adding that the decision would remain in place as long as efforts to quickly reach a diplomatic deal continue. He also claimed that Israel had agreed to support the move.

The announcement marks a shift from Trump's earlier position. Speaking during a cabinet meeting on Friday, he had warned that fresh strikes could begin as early as this weekend, saying the United States was prepared to hit Iran "very hard" until it agreed to negotiations.

Meanwhile, during a telephone conversation with the White House, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stressed the need to prioritise dialogue and reduce tensions across the Middle East.

Iran, however, maintained a firm stance, warning against any further military action. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said any new attack by the United States or Israel would be met with a decisive and proportional response.

The latest development comes after a fragile ceasefire collapsed last month, leading both sides to resume direct military strikes.

Previous negotiations aimed at restoring peace have failed to achieve a breakthrough.
