NewsmongerKwara State Polytechnic has set a December deadline for graduates to collect their certificates or face a monthly penalty fee.Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has directed former students with outstanding certificates to collect them before the end of 2026 or face a monthly charge of ₦2,000 from January next year.
The institution said the decision followed concerns over the large number of certificates that have remained uncollected for years, despite their importance in securing jobs, pursuing further education and meeting other official requirements.
The directive was contained in a notice signed by the Deputy Registrar of the Examinations and Records Division, Mr Saka Ibrahim Eletu, on behalf of the Acting Registrar.
Affected graduates are required to visit the division to retrieve their certificates no later than December 31, 2026.
The certificates available for collection include National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), Diploma, Higher Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma (PGD).
According to the management, any certificate not collected by the deadline will attract a demurrage fee of ₦2,000 per month, beginning January 1, 2027.
The Polytechnic advised former students to use the remaining period to complete the collection process and avoid additional expenses.
Graduates are required to present their original statements of result, valid means of identification and evidence of payment for their certificates.
