Kwara State Polytechnic has received NBTE approval to begin a National Diploma programme in Artificial Intelligence from the next academic session.

Kwara State Polytechnic has secured approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to commence a National Diploma (ND) programme in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the next academic session.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Engineer Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, disclosed this at the opening of the 7th Annual International Conference of the Institute of Applied Sciences.
The conference, held at the Admiral Mohammed Lawal Auditorium of the institution, was themed “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development in Sciences and Applied Sciences.”
The event brought together academics, professionals and other stakeholders to discuss the growing role of artificial intelligence in science, technology and society.
The Rector described the conference theme as timely, noting that AI is rapidly changing many areas of human activity.
He urged participants to pay close attention to the papers and lectures, saying the knowledge gained could become useful in their future careers and endeavours.
Dr. Abdul also called on academics and other stakeholders to submit ideas, research papers and scholarly contributions that could help ensure the successful take-off of the new AI programme.
The NBTE approval is expected to strengthen Kwara Polytechnic’s position in AI education and make it one of the early institutions in Nigeria to offer Artificial Intelligence at the ND level.
